What is Roar’s MessagingEQ Framework?

MessagingEQ is a strategic messaging tool that helps schools clarify, organize, and activate their brand promises. This framework was developed during Roar’s work with independent schools, including Trey Boden’s tenure as Chief Brand Officer at The Mount Vernon School.

Inspired by the equalizer on a stereo, MessagingEQ treats brand promises like frequencies that can be tuned depending on the story, the time of year, or the intended audience. It gives marketing, admissions, and development teams a shared language and structure for storytelling, making it easier to plan, stay consistent, and connect content to what truly makes the school unique.

What does the engagement look like?

This service helps schools clarify and strengthen their brand messaging through a structured, four-step process:

  • 60-Minute Kickoff – Introduces the team, reviews the process, and collects core brand materials and recent marketing samples.
  • 14-Day Band Practice – An email-based design sprint with 4 30-minute activities where your team creates and submits artifacts to inform messaging development.
  • EQ Development – Roar synthesizes submissions into a MessagingEQ framework tailored to the school’s brand and marketing needs.
  • Listening Session – The final MessagingEQ is delivered to the school’s team for implementation
